At Raceview State School, Indigenous students are supported through the Indigenous Support Programme. This program is co-funded by Queensland Education and Raceview State School.Within this program, an Indigenous Teacher Aide role exists to support the children of Indigenous families transitioning through primary school and to liaise with Indigenous Organisations such as Kambu, for hearing and health checks. This year, three of your teacher aides, Mary Ballangarry, Tracey Evans and Kaye Calvert, are working with the students in class and at lunchtimes.
In addition to providing support during class time, our teacher aides co-ordinate regular activities to ensure that they develop a rapport with the students and keep up to date with how they are progressing. These activities include a weekly lunch get together consisting of a variety of activities e.g. Cultural Storytelling, Art & Craft, Board Games and Outdoor Games. These are held on every Wednesday and Thursday during second Break 1:30 -2:00pm.Please feel free to contact Francine Hayler, Deputy Principal, on the school phone number (3294 4111) or Mary Ballangarry at firstname.lastname@example.org
if you would like to discuss anything in relation to the Indigenous role and/or your child.
