The Defence School Mentor Program (DSMP) provides support to students of Australian Defence (ADF) members and their families.

The program aims to support Defence students socially and emotionally; helping students access school-based support, providing information on the school to the families and raising awareness of the Defence lifestyle to staff at the school.  Support is available to students in the classroom, playground, in programs, at Defence Club and special events, developing a sense of security and belonging.

Friendships require work and can be difficult to make.  The DSM role is to support students and help them recognise what a friend is and does, supporting students in their attempts to establish good friendships.
The DSM is employed by the school but is funded by (DMFS) to provide support and activities under four key areas:
1) Welcoming
2) Integrating
3) Absence support
4) Farewelling

At Raceview State School, we recognise that Defence life and mobility can affect education. Frequent moves, long periods of separation, isolation from extended family and support networks, as well as deployments, are all factors that can disrupt a student’s learning and concentration.  If you are aware of an upcoming absence, please use the QR code to notify the school.
If you would like more information on how the DSM can support your child please contact Mrs Cheryl Kurtz at dsm@raceviewss.eq.edu.au.
